Η επιστημονική μας ομάδα αποτελείται από άρτια καταρτισμένο προσωπικό. Επιστημονικά υπεύθυνος του έργου είναι ο αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής του Τμήματος Χημείας ΑΠΘ και διευθυντής του Ινστιτούτου αειφόρου διαχείρισης των υδάτων και δικαίου του νερού, κ. Ιωάννης Κατσογιάννης.
O κύριος Κατσογιάννης είναι Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Ακαδημίας Βιομηχανικής Ιδιοκτησίας και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Οργανισμού Βιομηχανικής Ιδιοκτησίας. Είναι ειδικός στις τεχνολογίες επεξεργασίας νερού και λυμάτων, επαναχρησιμοποίησης νερού και κυκλικής οικονομίας. Υπήρξε υπότροφος αναγνωρισμένων διεθνών οργανισμών, όπως από το Ίδρυμα Alexander von Humboldt, τη Γερμανική Υπηρεσία Ακαδημαϊκών Ανταλλαγών (DAAD), το Ελβετικό Εθνικό Ίδρυμα Επιστημών και υπότροφος Marie Curie. Έχει πραγματοποιήσει έρευνα στο Τεχνικό Πανεπιστήμιο του Βερολίνου, στο Πολυτεχνείο του Αμβούργου, στο ETH Ζυρίχης και EPF Λωζάνης της Ελβετίας. Από το 2008 έως το 2014 έχει εργαστεί ως επιβλέπων χημικός μηχανικός για τις εταιρείες Alstom Power και Hitachi Power Europe στο σχεδιασμό, κατασκευή και θέση σε λειτουργία ορισμένων από τους μεγαλύτερους σταθμούς παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας στην Ευρώπη.
Είναι συγγραφέας περισσότερων από 85 ερευνητικών εργασιών, οι οποίες έχουν λάβει μέχρι σήμερα περισσότερες από 6500 αναφορές με δείκτη H 39.
Είναι επιστημονικός υπεύθυνος σε πολλά ερευνητικά έργα και έχει προσκληθεί περισσότερες από 25 φορές να δώσει διαλέξεις παγκοσμίως σε διεθνή συνέδρια και αναγνωρισμένα πανεπιστήμια.
Το 2019, ήταν ο πρόεδρος του 17ου Διεθνούς Συνεδρίου Χημείας και Περιβάλλοντος, το οποίο είναι το επίσημο περιβαλλοντικό συνέδριο της Ευρωπαϊκής Χημικής Εταιρείας (EuChemS), ενώ έχει διοργανώσει αρκετά ακόμη συνέδρια, ημερίδες και Ο Ιωάννης Κατσογιάννης είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Τεχνολογίας Περιβάλλοντος στο τμήμα Χημείας του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης.
Είναι Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Ακαδημίας Βιομηχανικής Ιδιοκτησίας και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Οργανισμού Βιομηχανικής Ιδιοκτησίας.

Ioannis Katsogiannis, (Dr. Chemist, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). He obtained his BSc from the Department of Chemistry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He obtained his MSc from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland specializing in environmental audit and management. He completed his PhD thesis with specialization in Chemical Technology from the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His current interests include the control of natural water pollution, the management and characterization of solid and liquid waste, the synthesis of innovative materials and its application in water and wastewater treatment. He has published more than 75 papers in scientific journals with a high impact index, has participated in more than 50 conferences, and has been invited to give more than 20 lectures at universities abroad and at international conferences. His work receives significant recognition with 7.000 citations according to the Scopus database (h-index 41). He has been awarded by the Empirikios Foundation (2006), by the Rector of the Aristotle University (2019) and by the Pancyprian Union of Chemists (2019) for his contribution to Chemistry. His name is among the list of “Top 2% of the world’s top scientists” for 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 according to a published study from Stanford University (USA). He coordinated or coordinates 15 research projects and has participated as a researcher in about 10 research projects. He is President of the Hellenic Academy of Industrial Property (HABI) and President of the Association of Greek Chemists (AGC).

Iliana Costi, is the Administrative Director of the the Institute of Sustainable Water Management and Water Law of EPLO. She is Lawyer and a member of the Bar Association of Athens, since 2008. She holds a Master’s degree in civil law and she is a PhD candidate at the University of the Aegean in the scientific field of personal data and artificial intelligence. In particular, her research focuses on the digital social network algorithms, as well as on the intellectual property rights of artificial intelligence systems. She is an alternate member of the Board of the Hellenic Academy of Industrial Property since 2020 and represents the Bar Association at the European Bar Council as a member of the Technology Law Committee since 2021. He is also a legal advisor at the Office of Technology Transfer at the University of West Attica. She has vast professional experience in the fields of technology law, personal data, intellectual property, technology transfer, civil and commercial law.
Athanasia Tolkou Dr. Dr. Athanasia Tolkou, is a Chemist, and a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). She holds a PhD in Chemistry, in the field of Chemical Technology, on “Synthesis and Characterization of New Pre-Polymerized Inorganic Crocidolites and their Application in Water and Waste Water Treatment”, at the Laboratory of Chemical Technology and Environmental Technology (AUTH) and holds a Master’s degree in the field of Chemical Technology, with emphasis on adsorption with nanomaterials. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Chemistry of the International University of Greece and a Research Fellow at the Department of Chemistry of Kavala, in research projects. For two years she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in the field of water and wastewater management. In addition, she is an Academic Fellow, for the provision of teaching work to cover teaching needs in the subject “Chemical Technology” and in the course “CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY”, at the Department of Chemistry of Kavala (DI.PA.E. ) and provides Assistant Teaching in the laboratory exercises of the Laboratory “Industrial Processes” and “Chemical Technology” at the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and in the laboratory exercises of the Laboratory “Chemical Technology” at the Department of Chemistry of Kavala (D.P.A.E.). She has 38 publications in prestigious international journals. She has participated in 13 research projects related to her field of expertise and is co-author of 3 book chapters. She has participated in 42 conference proceedings with oral and posted papers and has been a member of the organizing committee of 7 international and national conferences. She is a reviewer for more than 20 acclaimed international journals. She has research experience at the Hamburg University of Technology (Germany) and at the University of Varese (Italy). In 2013 she received a grant from the Onassis Foundation to participate in a summer school at FORTH (Crete), focusing on the use of graphene, taught by the Nobel Prize winner for the discovery of graphene, Konstantin Novoselov. She is Chairman of the Scientific Department of Environment, Health and Safety at Work of the Union of Greek Chemists. In addition, she has served as General Secretary and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Chemists of Northern Greece (ACNG) and an elected Member of the Assembly of Representatives of the Association of Greek Chemists. She specialises in technologies used for water reuse, such as adsorption on activated carbon, membrane use and ozonation.- Maria Xanthopoulou is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master’s degree in Chemical and Environmental Technology. She is currently developping her PhD thesis on water treatment and reuse. She has participated in several research projects and she has presented the results of her research work in international and national conferences. She is the author of 5 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. She is General Secretary of the Association of Chemists of Northern Greece and member of the Board of the Environmental Department of the Association of Greek Chemists.
Lola (Theodora) Lyberopoulou is the Director of European and International Projects at the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) as of March 2020. She has 25 years of professional experience in the management and implementation of internationally and european funded projects in a wide range of areas such as: sustainable development, European integration, regional and economic development, social development, human resources management, education and training. She has experience in the field of sustainable investment, green finance and climate change adaptation. She holds a BA in International Business Administration (ICHEC Brussels), an MSc in European Economics (College of Europe, Bruges) and an MBA in Finance (ESCEM, France). She is fluent in English, French and Greek.
Sandra Manioudaki is the Director of Marketing Communications at the European Public Law Organization (EPLO). She is responsible for public relations, communication, media relations and social media at EPLO. She has many years of experience in managing sales and marketing departments, in the advertising/communications industry in high-level positions of responsibility, in international public relations, in start-up management and in export development. She also has many years of experience in event management and coordination. She has an excellent command of English and is fluent in Greek, French and Spanish.- Elisavet Kitsou is Head of Finance at the European Public Law Organization (EPLO). She is responsible for the overall control of all financial transactions and accounting issues, formulates the annual budgets, the financial planning of the Organization and consequently provides advice to senior management. She has extensive experience in the financial management of EU-funded projects. She has over 25 years of professional experience with a main focus on the venture capital industry. She holds a degree in Business Administration and is fluent in English and French.
Lea (Lefkothea) Stavrou is a Programme Officer at the Department of Technical Cooperation of EPLO. She is a Lawyer and a member of the Bar Association of Thessaloniki and has a Master’s degree in Civil Law, Civil Procedural and Labour Law from the University of Thessaloniki. She has many years of experience in the management of European funded projects [EU Twinning projects, DG Justice projects]. She has been a research associate at the Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation and at the Centre for International European and Economic Law – KDEOD. She has been a fellow of the Crateros Ioannou Scholarship and of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Thessaloniki in the field of Commercial Law, specialising in Intellectual Property. She speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Alessia Fiumi is the Director of the Travel and Conferences Department at the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and she is responsible for the organization of events, international conferences and lectures, international seminars in Greece and abroad. She holds a degree in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Vienna. She is fluent in Greek, English, Italian and German.
